Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is the most basic and well known form of bodywork. Swedish massage uses variations in pressure and stokes to manually bring relaxation into the body.
Beneficial to individuals who want to melt away in a pool of relaxation. Useful with stiffness, headaches, stress, and surface level tension.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue work uses high levels of pressure to increase circulation in tightly bound muscles. It can be useful for opening space and reducing pain. This technique is incorporated into other practices like Swedish or Thai.
It is worth noting that many people desire deep pressure work but the body does not always respond. Its like putting a lot of pressure on a glass door, it won't budge until it shatters. Sometimes the body needs techniques that can 'liquify' the glass door, so that the layers of tension beneath the glass can dissipate.
Movement Training
Movement analysis builds your ability to have body awareness as you move in time and space. This helps identify compensation patterns so you understand why certain stretches or strengthening exercises are important/helpful. It helps you build knowledge to how you can foster longevity in your movements and joints.
Beneficial to anyone looking to build a deeper connection with their body, understand their physical therapy exercises, untangle body compensations, and improve athletic capabilities.
Craniosacral
Craniosacral is an incredibly deep and impactful therapy. It works with the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) that runs as a protective fluid around the brain, spinal cord, and sacrum. CSF has its own rhythm, like a heartbeat. Craniosacral works with the CFS to elongate and soothe the rythm. Individuals who have had concussions, TBIs, or other head/neck impacts benefit greatly from work in here. It also benefits migraines, stress, and anxiety.
Trager
Trager therapy promotes ease, physical mobility, and creates spacial awareness in the body. It uses a mixture of rocking, trembling, bouncing, and so on to calm the nervous system and follow tension patterns from the joints.
Trager is beneficial for anyone looking to gain more range of motion, decrease pain, and relax their mind. It is beneficial to athletics, improving physical performance, and office workers, bringing movement to a sedentary body.
Abdominal Massage
The abdominal region of our body is a powerful region. "Rest and Digest" is the name for activation of the Vagus Nerve which resides in the abdominal region and organs. Working in this area brings a lot of release, movement, strange sensations, and can be emotional work. This work is especially beneficial to anyone who has had surgical impact, tight hip flexors, pregnancies, and stress reduction. People often leave an abdominal session feeling more grounded in their body, however a reminder that everyone's experience is different.
Thai Massage
Thai Massage is an eastern modality that uses the practitioner body to stretch and bring relief into the clients body. These sessions are performed on the floor
Breath Work
Breathe work is typically incorperated into any session with any technique. The breath is another powerful function of the body - which is why you hear it referenced so often. The breathe is our one automic body function that we can take control over, giving us influence over our autonomic nervous system.
In our sessions we work on developing deep, fluid, and strong breathing. This helps guide my work as a practitioner to areas of restriction in your body while simultaneously calming your nervous system.
Shiatsu
Shiatsu is another eastern medicine practice originating out of Japan. This practice is incredibly intentional. It works with the energy flow throughout the body working along meridians to increase or off set energy depending on the body's hara diagnoses. A hara diagnoses is the assessment of organs in the abdominal region, sensing if they are hyper or hypo active. These sessions are also completed on the floor but can be incorporated into table work.
This work is beneficial for people feeling stuck, low energy, or wanting insight into pathways of how their body is interconnected with food, sleep, or stress patterns.
Myofascial
Myofascial works with the fascial network to release and follow tension. Fascia is a thin layer of webbing that wraps the inside and outside of every tissue, organ, muscle, bone, ligament, tendon, and all other structures. When something in the body is injured the fascial system is effected the same way a spider web is when a stick pulls tension on one side of it.
This work is beneficial for those who feel like everything in their body is pulling on something else. Individuals who have undergone any type of injury, surgery, or physical imbalance.
Positional Release
A technique that works with the joint capsule and surrounding structures to lubricate movement, opening up range of movement, smoothness with movement, and pain or stiffness with movement.
Beneficial for individuals with shoulder or hip crunches, popping, stiffness, or surgical/injury histories.
